SantaCon is a non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that occurs once a year for absolutely no reason. The first SantaCon took place in San Francisco, CA in 1994 and was sponsored by The San Francisco Cacophony Society. The Cacophonists celebrated the Yule season in a distinctly anti-commercial manner, by mixing guerrilla street theatre and pranksterism. Since the first SantaCon 1994, hundreds of thousands of people have gathered together dressed as Santa or in other holiday themed costumes (elves, reindeer, Christmas trees and of course Hannukah Harry) to parade publicly on streets and in restaurants and bars in cities around the world. Fast forward to 2011. SantaCon has since evolved, spawning many different versions and interpretations of the event throughout the world. SantaCon is now held in over 150 cities in over 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Austria, Japan, China, Singapore, South Korea, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Spain, France, Bahrain, India, Mexico and Antarctica! SantaCon is for adults – where guys & girls dress up like Santa and go cavorting around town for no better reason than that it's huge fun!!!"
